As you know, here at Sweet Pea Nutrition, we are all about helping you eat more healthily and giving you tips to ensure you live a more active and healthy life. We have recently teamed up with the people at WhatShed to bring you this awesome infographic that shows you why gardening is more than just something that gets your hands dirty. It is great for your body, your mind and it can ensure you have plenty of healthy food to eat.
While you can go to the store to buy all of your fruit and vegetables, growing your own in the garden is just so much more rewarding and it is also going to save you quite a lot of money in the long run. There is just something so cool and satisfying about making a meal with food that you have grown in your own garden, with your own two hands.
Gardening so that you have a good supply of organic and healthy food is great. But gardening also has many other physical benefits. For example, gardeners tend to have a considerably lower BMI than those who do not. Also, gardening is an excellent workout. Just a few hours in the garden planting food and taking care of flowers can burn the same amount of calories as working out hard in the gym! So not only are you getting some healthy food to eat, you are burning calories in the process.
As well as being great for your body, gardening also does wonders for your mental health. Stress levels will be reduced thanks to gardening and things like strokes and heart issues are far less common in people who like to garden on a regular basis.
Gardening may seem like a strange way to take care of your body and your healthy eating needs, but it ticks all of the boxes for what you need to live a healthier life.
